My Current Education

Currently, I am enrolled in the General Arts and Science One-Year College Exploration program. In April, 2012, I will have completed this program. In September, I will be in the Child and Youth Worker program. This school year, I have taken courses that are recommended for the Child and Youth Worker program, so that I can transfer, and not have to start back at square one. Here's a list of the courses I have/am taking.

Semester One - Fall Term

Developmental Psychology - From this course, I have gained knowledge of how humans develop over years, and how our personality traits are formed. This was a neat course, because it allowed you to self-reflect and look at why you are where you are.

Intro to Psychology - This course explained all of the basic information to psychology. Without this course, branches of psychology would not make sense.

Writing Strategies - This course was extremely useful (and mandatory). In this course, you work on writing skills. College essays are definitely not like high school essays, and this course helped me learn how to write an amazing paper.

Behavioural Psychology - This course focused on the cognitive side of psychology. It allowed students to look at why humans think the way they do, and what their behaviours mean.

Pre-Health Science Math - Although I found this course rather easy, it refreshed my mathematical skills. The last unit is the most fun, in my opinion.

Semester Two - Winter Term

The Effective Learner - This should be a mandatory course. It is an extremely useful course, because there is a lot of self-reflection as you find out how you learn best, and learn strategies to help you.

Stress and Stress Management - This is another extremely useful course. Most, if not all students have stress in their life, and this course shows you how to identify the stress and keep it under control. I definitely benefited from this course. I used to stress out over everything, and not I have learned to use relaxation techniques to help me cope with stressors.

Communicating in Relationships - This course shows you how to effectively communicate with all human beings. I am really enjoying this course because you learn about cultures and diversity.

Abnormal Psychology - This course is perfect for today's society. There are so many people with mental illnesses, and this course allows students to learn more about the illnesses, and better understand what their peers are going through.

Counselling Process - This course has been perfect for me. I want to become some sort of counsellor, and this course has showed me techniques to use with a client, and what counselling can do for someone.

Forensic Psychology - This course is very interesting. It takes a look at things such as criminal profiling, a person's testimony, and the process of solving a crime.
